Dear Diary,
Last night I ended up leaving my flat at a quarter to eleven to buy some cat food because I realised I was out of it and if I didn't grab some I'd probably wake up the next morning less a finger.

Yours Truly,
Senior fucking Auror
Caradoc Dearborn.

P.S. Diary, your life is more interesting than mine.

And have all of you decided to quit bitching at each other? Because I was never a teenage girl and I've come this far in life believing that that wasn't something I needed to experience.

You wouldn't mind pushing that drink back a couple hours, would you? I'm going to be held up for a bit tonight but then we can meet, if you still want.

Well. Christmas bender officially recovered from--just in time for the New Years depression to set in.

Sweet. I love this time of year.

I tried to find Cho Chang, I heard she was a member of Harry's little gang there and she's at the Ministry now, but I ran into some crazy-paranoid psycho in her Department who wouldn't stop asking questions and demanded to know why I was there, (Death Eater, I'm figuring) so someone else is probably going to have to do it, because I can't risk blowing my cover.

So me and all of my siblings (Charlie, Margaret and Karen) are adorable little Half-bloods. My father's linage dates back to roughly 1780, give or take a decade or so. My mother was a muggle, but I was tracing her back anyway and I think I found the wizarding connection. There always is one--muggleborn wizards always have a drop of blood in them somewhere from a wizarding line--and I think I found her's, through a squib relative of the Selwyns it seems.

[Private to the Order]

I honestly feel like this totally backfires the entire system.

I also feel like those assholes who have problems with muggleborns out to remember that the did come from wizards, originally.

I don't know what this newspaper is talking about. Injured.

I'm fine. Rabastan isn't. Rabastan really isn't. But I'm fine.

It's pretty rich when I hear about what's coming down the pipe lines from the Daily Prophet before I hear about it in the office. It makes me feel real important and full of warm and fuzzy feelings.

I got myself a mmmMacchiato this morning on my walk to the Ministry. I know right? Moving up in the world from day old coffee to fancy drinks with caramel and shit in them. Change, right, sometimes it can be a good thing. People all need to relax a little bit. The Ministy is doing just fine, and we don't need any more fear mongering, thanks.

Sorry I didn't get to congratulate you on beating me fair and square for such a badass promotion. You deserve it. I'll buy you a drink sometime. Something with alcohol, though, not caramel. We're men, afterall.

Well, shit.

Guess I better head to bed early tonight. Work tomorrow is going to be one hell of a ride.

Is coffee that has set out overnight with cream and milk in it still safe to drink? I'm aware that it'll go down thick, a bit sour and cold. I know that I won't get that warm 'We are the Growers, and you can taste it' feeling that I might have done were it a fresh cup, but that isn't the concern here.

Because there is a cup of day-old coffee sitting here all shiny and brilliant and right in front of me, whereas I'd actually have to get up to get a new one. And my leg is still stiff from that incident in June that landed me with a broken femur. Bloody damp weather. One day, Spain. One day. and I can pretend I don't see that tiny little layer of dust that's already settled on the cream-skin at the top of the cup. You know what they say: no mold, no problem. no one says that.

Also, if anyone wants to start a betting pool to see how long it takes for me to toss up after drinking this you ought to know that there's a good 5:1 chance it'll be around the fifteen minute.
